Spondle Backed by Bethnal Green Ventures to Build the Operating System for Households
Apr 21, 2026

The inspiration for Spondle wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born in a classroom. It started on a Tuesday during a nursery school science presentation.
My co-founder, Folasade, was at the front of her classroom. One of her pupils stood up to present, looked around the room, and realized neither of her parents were there. She started crying “where’s my mommy!”. Within minutes, reality rippled through the room as most of the kids realized their parents hadn't shown up, and the entire presentation spiraled into a show of tears.
It wasn't because these parents didn't care. It was because the communication wires of modern family logistics are non-existent.
Today, the household is the most important organization in the world. Yet, unlike modern businesses that run on sophisticated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, households are left to run on memory, sticky notes, fragmented apps, and burnout.
We decided to change that. And today, we are thrilled to announce that Spondle has been accepted into the accelerator program of Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV), Europe’s leading Tech for Good VC to build the Operating System for Households.

The Problem: Dual Income, But Not Dual Effort
We live in an era where 80% of households are dual-income, and 65% of mothers are active in the workforce. Yet, despite this massive shift, the reality behind closed doors remains stark: nearly 90% of home logistics still falls on the shoulders of one partner, most often the woman.
Families today aren't just busy; they are operationally overloaded. Through our research, we found that the cost of running a modern home is staggering:
The Invisible Workload: According to the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS), adults spend up to 3.5 hours every day on unpaid household work. But that only counts physical chores. Harvard University research on "cognitive labor" shows that the mental load of anticipating needs, coordinating childcare, and remembering routines adds an invisible 30% to 50% tax on top of that.
The £7,000 Drain: Combined, parents are losing between 1,000 and 1,400 hours a year just keeping the family functioning. Valued at even a conservative £10 an hour, households are bleeding up to £14,000 worth of time annually.
The Breaking Point: It is no surprise that the Working Families UK Index consistently finds a vast majority of working parents suffering from "role overload," with family administration actively damaging their mental health.
People struggle with running their household not because they are bad planners. They are struggling because they are trying to manage careers, childcare, and endless routines without the proper infrastructure. Once again this reminds us how there is an enterprise software tool to organize every modern business, but the household; the most important organization in the world with daily use has been left behind.
The Solution: The Household Operating System
Spondle is the Operating System for the modern household. We are replacing the chaotic mix of sticky notes, unread WhatsApp messages, and forgotten calendars with a single, centralized hub designed to make home logistics completely visible, shared, and effortless.
My background spans 8 years in growth, product, and B2B marketing, while Folasade brings frontline experience as an early-years educator who sees the direct impact of chaotic households on children every single day. As a married couple who relocated from Nigeria to the UK under the Tech Nation Global Talent Visa, we understand firsthand the complexities of managing a household while building a global career. We are building Spondle to solve a universal, everyday problem that transcends borders.
Partnering with Europe’s Leading Tech for Good VC
Getting backing from Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV) is a massive validation of this mission. As Europe’s leading Tech for Good venture capital firm, BGV has a world-class pedigree in identifying and backing founders who are solving pressing global challenges through scalable technology.
Their investment is a clear signal: the invisible labor of the household is not just a "soft" domestic issue. It is a critical infrastructure problem that affects the global workforce, and it requires a dedicated, venture-scale technological solution.
Our Momentum and What’s Next
We are moving fast. In just over a month from launch, our iOS beta quickly filled with 120 households, giving us data points on exactly how modern families coordinate. The data and feedback have overwhelmingly validated the demand for what we are building.
With BGV’s backing, we would be working towards:
Cross-Platform Expansion: The number one barrier to household synchronization is device friction. Backed by this new capital, Spondle has now launched on Android, instantly allowing fully synced, cross-platform coordination for families everywhere.
Accelerating Product-Led Growth: Armed with BGV’s resources and network, we are scaling our reach. The organic demand from our iOS beta proved the problem is real. Now, we are focusing on rapid community expansion, getting Spondle into the hands of thousands of parents who need their evenings and headspace back.
Scaling Our Footprint: We aren't just building a utility app; we are building an ecosystem. This accelerator allows us to deepen our core product architecture, aggressively expand our engineering capabilities, and lay the operational groundwork required for our next stage of institutional scale.
The Spondle journey is just beginning. If you are an investor, partner, or a parent tired of carrying the mental load alone, we invite you to join us.
Spondle is currently available on iOS, and Android. Download Spondle today or reach out to our founders Folasade or Ayomide on LinkedIn to follow the journey.
